How did you get started playing roller derby?

My girlfriend's (Late T Bug) mom (Rude Punzel) actually got me into it. I laughed at her the first time she mentioned she was joing a roller derby team. So me and Late t Bug went to the first she devils game, and we were both star struck. By the second game, Late T Bug joined the team. From there it basicly went from watching practice, I learned some of the rules bought myself a pair of skates and eventually became a reff. Just watching the girls duke it out on the rink grew and grew on me. The more i went to practice the more i wanted to do it myself.

You play for the Penn jersey Men's Roller Derby in Pennsylvania. Can you tell me about that? Do you play flat track or banked? WFTDA (though you're not women)
rules or OSDA rules?

The Hell City Hooligans sprang up in early january. I had been talking about getting a mens team togather to some of the other refs, a few were intrested. So we brought it up to our coaches Judy Sowinski " the polish ace" and Arnols "Skip" Schoen and they loved it. Being from the old school, it was whatthey were familiar with. With the new Mens team, the She Devils were one step closer to getting O.S.D.A (Old School Derby Asociation) up and running.

O.S.D.A is old school rules minus the bank track, although its everyone of our dreams to eventually skate on a banked track.

How is men's roller derby different from the current Women's flat track roller derby or women's banked track roller derby?

Theres really no differance at all, except the fact that were men and not women. There are some derby girls out ther that believe that men don't belong on the track, its sad, the lack of respect and ignorance some people have towards the game that started it all.

Are men more agressive, more prone to fight, do you play against women's teams?

From what I have seen so far, the men play the game just as every derby girl
does. We have the same heart and soul for the game. On the track tempers fly and the adrenaline is pumping, but you gotta remember: "What happens on the track, stays on the track". You rough each other up a bit then have drink afterwards and share a few laughs.

As for playing against girls, we haven't had a girls vs guys game. But we do scrimmage together, we run drills together. We just finished our first Coed game, I would have to say it was the best of are season yet. The crowd loved every minute of it. Hopefully there's room for future coed games with other leagues to come.

What are your favorite two things about playing roller derby?

I think its the same for most people, an escape from all the stress of work and everyday life and whatever else that has got you down in the dumps. There's nothing like throwing on your pads going out on the track and slamming into a couple people, after a long hard day of work. Its incredible. It also filled up alot of dead time in my life, got me outta the house when i would normaly sit home watch tv, rott my brain out. The league has become a brotherhood and sisterhood. Friendships i wouldnt trade the world for.

How did you get your derby name?

It first started when i was younger in the punk rock community. I was deemed Robbie Chaos after after a few wild nights of drinking and smashing things and what ever sort of chaos that came up. Some where down the line it evolved into split Vicious and then to Bobbie Carnage. For what ever reason im not sure but its stuck since then. Theres also Rob Goblin i picked up after last seasons halloween game. Apperently i stole a bunch of little pumpkins from the bar and was launching them at store fronts and strret sighns. Thanks Classy Chasis,
whatever if i dont rember it, it never happened.

What roller derby skates and gear do you use?

Triple 8 pads, Ridell 695 boots, single axle trucks and Bones ceramic bearings.

What would you tell someone who doesn't know roller derby to get them to come to a bout?

It would depend on who I was talking to. If I were trying to sell the game to some meathead I would tell him its a bunch of beautiful women in fishnets and mini skirts skating around beating the hell out of eachother. If I were trying to sell it to a more formal person, I just try to explain the game to them as best as I can. or you could go with the sales pitch, "Buy or die Bitch." It works sometimes.

What else, besides play, do you do for your league?

I'm one of the designers for the Penn Jersey SheDevils, I did the newest women's teams logo. The Dishonor Rolls and the Hell City Hooligans logo. I'm
captain of the Hell City Hooligans and im also the men's rep for O.S.D.A

What was your worst injury from roller derby so far?

So far nothing bad yet (knock on wood). I don't bruise easy. So at the moment maybe a few swollen ankles.

How hard is it for you to balance your derby and real life responsibilities?

Is there life after derby?

Where do you see the sport of roller derby in 5 years?

I would love to see the Penn-Jersey She Devils skating on a banked track, as for derby in general, I look forward to the competion and teams to come. It'd be great to see roller derby on TV again.

What is your theme song?

At the moment i would have tosay "Rebel Rebel" by David Bowie or "The Trooper" by Iron Maiden

Do you have a signature move during a game we should watch for?

I'm still new to the game but trust me, I have a few neat tricks up my sleaves. You all will just have to come out and watch me play.
