Why do you play roller derby?
I love to skate, I was a competitive artistic roller skater when I was just a young tot. I also moved to Dallas 2 years ago from Northern California and thought it would be a great way to meet some cool people and a great way to exercise.
What are your favorite two things about playing roller derby?
It's unfair to just ask for 2 things but these are my top 2 reasons:
1.) To see the many different faces of the fans that come out to watch us play, and the glowing feeling of success after a bout and seeing all of our hard work pay off !!!!
2.) The many awesome chicks I have the honor of skating with.
How did you get your derby name, Fairy Painful?
One of my best friends came up with it while we were very intoxicated, camping out in Big Sur California. Besides you have to know me -
I love Fairies, I have a huge Fairy tattoo on my back. It fits like a glove.
What roller derby skates and gear do you use?
Wickeds with Fugitive wheels.
What would you tell someone that doesn't know roller derby to get them to come to a bout?
BYOB - Live music? A bunch of really cool Hot chicks skating their asses off for your entertainment - that always works
What else, besides play, do you do for your league?
I am on the Production committee - I am kind of like the " Soccer Mom" for the league, I bring all the water, snacks to feed us at the bouts, as well as help set up and clean up
What was your worst injury from roller derby so far?
A bruised muscle after falling on my left arm (I am a lefty). No cast or anything, but I was in a sling for a week. I also had to skate in my 1st bout with my hurt arm (wing as I would say).
How difficult is it for you to balance your derby and real life responsibilities?
Roller Derby provides me with the balance from my real life responsibilities.
Where do you see the sport of roller derby in 5 years?
As Will Ferrell would say, "It’s going to be Ginormus"!
