2010 starts with a --- well not much
So here we are Derby luvvers! It's Two Thousand and Ten, a new decade of roller derby commences this year, and a new year means that right now, teams across Canada and the US that play mainly in spring - fall time lines (hockey towns everywhere) are finalizing season dates and season event schedules, trying to confirm who in the rookie pool might be ready to join a team, and trying to prevent injuries while they step up the practices a notch from last year. I am currently not skating. It's not because of any reason other than a reset of my roller derby schedule and career, and a real life vs derby life fight. Once it's back to normal, I'll be back again. I'm not giving up on roller derby any time soon. I may not be a Beyonslay, a Atomatrix, or a Val Capone, or Estro Jen, or Rollergirl, but I'm Nia Capps, and I am like a bad penny and just keep turning up. But hey, I'm still staying in the derby vibe. I read DNN, like all of you do, joined the facebook Roller Derby Workout Challenge, and support anything roller derby-related. I still look at my skates everyday and am exercising and am cleaning up my basement so I can skate in it. (concrete floor full unfinished basement) If you didn't see it in the last round up on DNN, I like this newest addition to the rock video featuring roller derby. This is Halestorm and the video features the Jersey Shore Rollergirls, and a guitar solo that screams. It's Not You. I'm off work sick today with a stomach virus, but I am dragging myself out to go look at an apartment for my mother-in-law, and on the weekend I am shopping, relaxing, getting better and hanging out. I am finishing my Green Peas for Bruised Knees knitted ice pack project! I'll share when it's done! L8r sk8rs. Derby Luv to ya~! Labels: Derby Luv, Knockdown Knits, roller derby crafts

FCDG Promotion and Other Roller Derby Promotion
It's so good to be back! Practice 3 with FCDG tonight. Looking forward to having Miss Anya Face push me through my paces tonight. I'll try to get a few more, "Nia, you kick ass!" from the ladies I get partnered up with and I'll keep trying to do better. In other news, last night I helped promote FCDG by appearing in a derby commercial (live commercial) during a Weezi fashion show last night in London, ON. We only had limited space to skate, but Commiekaze and I were able to hit Dollface Massacre and let her dramatically fall to the floor, and we got to join in with a "We're looking for Fresh Meat for Forest City Derby Girls!" climatic cheer. We flyered every table in the joint, but were not approached for tickets. Hard to get people to fork over cash when they are saving it for their beer that night, I guess. I hope I can sell some tickets this week and help FCDG recruit this season for next year! In personal news, I can't tell I lost 18 pounds except in my face. I hate how I looked last night in pictures, but my co-worker (who just happens to know some of my FCDG teammates, and was a model in the show last night along with some of the FCDG girls and others, loves this photo of us. (Cropped for fitting and to cut out some things I can't show in public). I look like some crazy psycho trailer trash pale creature.... I don't even recognize me in there. I need a make over apparently. Oh well. No matter. I thought about how to promote roller derby in London, ON, and while I was perusing, I came across some very cool little videos. In honor of my new commitment to keep Derby Luv content coming from me ALL-Canadian, I won' t mention the fantastic PSA announcements by the Minnesota Rollergirls, (I'll let you find those yourself!) ;) I did laugh out loud though at the Montreal Roller Derby Promo spots out there now from MTL Roller Derby. My favorite is Coffee Break, but Walk in the Park is a close second. What a great way to have some fun and promote roller derby! My promotion will be my weight loss, fitness gains, and improvements in my confidence levels, as well as my continued drive to tell everyone I meet about roller derby and try to generate a larger audience, support, and knowledge about the game. I am also going to try to get the FCDG new website up this weekend if I can get league approval and I am going to ask if there are committees I can join to help out. Support your local roller derby people. The 2009 season is well underway and we need help to keep rolling. Buy and sell tickets, merchandise, play hard and skate harder and promote promote, promote! 200...CLEAR!...Charge to 300.... CLEAR!.... Nia Capps IS BACK!
Hey hey Derby Luvvers! I'm NOT dead! I didn't give up roller derby, for those that were worried when seeing my facebook posts, haven't seen me on myspace or twitter, or seen me anywhere online, but I did some soul searching in April. Why? I was completely exhausted. I've said it before, but never did I know what I was speaking of, because after a year of commuting 4 hours a day, getting up at 5 AM every weekday and then doing two trips in two weeks to Montreal and back to London, ON and moving two households in those two weeks, then jumping into a new neighborhood and job location and schedule and going to my first practice in MONTHS and feeling like I was going to die... well... it took a little reset button for Nia Capps to revive herself. I needed an internal defribliator, so to speak. The 411: after a year almost completely off-skate I had stopped exercising and dieting. Gained 35 pounds. Stayed in shape in the gym LUCKILY, lost derby balance, skate stance endurance in back and ankles, shin splints recurred. But, now I'm all settled in, getting back to myself. I decided I was CRAZY to even think of giving up on roller derby after all it has done for me, all it gives me, how it makes me feel better about myself and the rest of the world around me, and because I'm just not done. I've never: Gone to RollerCon Been on a Travel/All Star Team Been a member of WFTDA or OSDA (I left Montreal before they became WFTDA member league) Played in another country (I did practice once!) Won an award at an awards ceremony I have lots more to do, and I'm not too old to do it, even if I am turning a WHOPPING 35 this year. As of last weekend, I am back down 18 pounds. I'm in the gym, on a very healthy diet and am on my own version of a biggest loser challenge. I want to have people join me. Watch here if you want to come with me. What's next? First, I've made it through a good practice with FCDG and paid my dues and will be at all the practices I can get a ride to and am allowed to attend as fresh meat. Second, I'm back in love with derby so derby luv is back. Last, tonight, I get to assist with recruitment for FCDG by appearing in a Retro Fashion Show for WEEZI at The Ceeps in London, ON. FCDG is doing a live commercial in a break of the Family Feud-inspired fashion-show skit. What a COOL idea! Let me know if you're in London and ever thought about playing roller derby or learning to skate. I'll help! I'm also working on a FCDG website to launch as soon as I can nail down some pictures since I'm new to the league, and I'll be working the bout on May 23 here in London, ON. Watch here for bout info! Thanks for not forgetting about Derby Luv and for being patient while I got my life and derby under control. I'm back! Here's to the rest of 2009 being a great derby adventure! Mat-omic Joins DerbyLuv.com!
If you read my posts, you know I had a new blogger coming on board. Well, here he is! Let me introduce you to Mat-omic!
I am proud to welcome him to the Derbyluv blogging team because roller derby is good when the guys play it too! I can't wait to see my first live Men's roller derby game! And I now have another reason to make it back to Dallas/Ft Worth someday...
Dontcha just luv that hair?
Name: Mat-omic Location: Dallas, Texas Derby Team: Dallas Deception Mens Derby, (Pssst...He's the co-captain!) Assassination City Women’s roller derby (He's a coach!) Mat-omic's Skating History and Current 411 :I’ve skated my entire life, from 5 to now(22), I also have spanned the spectrum of skating, from recreational in the beginning, to roller hockey, to aggressive, to inline speed, but I spent the majority of my time jam skating for the World Skating Association.
I performed jam skating shows around the United States and have multiple state/national achievements, including a 1st place at the WSA 2008 Nationals. I joined the Dallas Men’s derby 2 weeks after it was formed, have been there ever since jamming for them and trying to gain exposure for men’s derby. I also became the coach for the Assassination City Special Ops travel team in late 2008 because I LOVE my TEXAS Girls, ha-ha . They are a great group of skaters with the same goal; to gain more exposure for Roller Derby as a sport.
Want to know more about Mat-omic? Q: Who is your favorite roller derby league, team or skater right now?A: My favorite derby league would be tough, there are so many, favorite team would have to be my own, seconded by the Lone Star Assassins from Assassination City, and favorite skater hands down would be my partner in crime Miley Virus. Q: Where do you see roller derby in 5 years?A: Television hopefully, possibly the X-Games, I also hope it becomes more Global, I’d love to have a World Championship some day. PSSST, Mat-omic, check out your local cable/satellite providers and get MavTV, they do show WFTDA bouts/tournaments on TV. I am jealous of those in the US that can watch. And what is Matomic's favorite roller derby story? Check this out: First tournament I ever played was the “Throwdown in the Sound” men’s tournament, the first of its kind, 4th jam into the first game I was jamming and got hit in the back and thrown into the crowd, caught the almer side of my wrist on a steel chair in the crowd, snapped my wrist, had to finish the jam and then play 2 games later on with a broken wrist…. Well, this determined jammer will be helping out by doing interviews with rollerguys and rollergirls in the South and Southwestern US for us. And he'll keep us up to date with Men's Roller Derby events for the Dallas Deception Men's Roller Derby. Welcome to Derbyluv, Matomic! Labels: ACDG, Dallas Deception, Derby Luv

2009 Derby Season News - FCDG - and my new hair!
Well folks, I am happily walking around with a new haircut, which no photo I took of it could really tell you how I feel about it or how cool it is. Thanks to Saranda, a hair designer at the salon in Jackson Square Mall in Hamilton, ON, I am back to looking as young as I feel. Of course, she had the super-hot straightener and the wax to make it shine... but I can deal with it. Ignore my stupid smile (my derby widow made me do it), the hair that was blown out of place, and just check out the MTLRD, Contrabanditas and SmallMarketSports.com banners and the Alouettes pom pom on my wall.... Love it! Ok anyway, here's my excitement for this weekend - apart from knowing lots of derby went on this weekend that I failed to talk about (sorry) - I just read up on the FCDG 2009 Season Schedule this afternoon on facebook, and am happy to hear that FCDG has consolidated into a single team as the Thames Fatales and is doing home and away games this year with teams from the Ontario region, plus Beast of the East in Montreal. It's a long season with the last confirmed date in November 2009, with lots of time to fit in other events and training, and I can only hope as fresh meat on an already 17-member roster, that I'll get to play. I hope so! If you're in London and you are into roller derby, please consider joining the league as a player, ref or volunteer! I'd post the roster and the schedule here, but I'd like to get the permission of the FCDG first, so I'll just for now leave you with a link to the f acebook group with the schedule posting for the Thames Fatales. In the meantime, I move in T-39 days to London, ON and it's going to be very busy in March and April with both derby and non-derby stuff. Beast of the East 2009 in Montreal is T-60 days away! I started the couch to 5K running program at Week 1 last week. I hope to be running 5 K in 30 minutes by April 30, 2009. I hope to be skating at least 3 times in March, and 3 times per week starting in April. If I can't play, I'll be training, so WTF?! And in other news, I am waiting for a roller derby DVD arrival to review for you, and I am working on figuring out how to manage Derbyluv this year. The blogging, the comics, the interviews.... I have a possible interviewer for rollergirls headed into Derby Luv soon with a jam-skating history and a possible new blogger from the UK. If you would like to become a roller derby blogger, contact me! Your league and region will thank you! Labels: Derby Luv, FCDG, training

Buy and Sell Used Rollerskates
Happy New Year! Welcome to 2009, derbyluvvers. This year, I don't have resolutions, but I have some things I'd like to do. 1) Get moved and get back to roller derby! 2) Go to Beast of the East in Montreal at the end of April. 3) Play in at least one game this year. 4) Win the lottery so I can go to RollerCon 2009 AND do my Canada/US cross-country derby road trip 5) Get a car so I can travel to more derby 6) Renew my Canadian Permanent Resident card so travel is easier. 7) Get a new hairstyle 8) Get a raise or a promotion if one comes available 9) Get a new wardrobe for work, and new stuff for derby 10) Improve derbyluv.com. Most of that is personal crap, but derbyluv.com may get some spit shine this year. We'll keep getting better around here with better coverage of events, more video and photo blogging, and who knows? Maybe you'll get a few surprises. As long as you still like reading it, I'll keep derbyluv up! What would you like to see? Let me know! Oh, here's a new service to tell you about. http://www.skatetrader.net/ is now open for business. If you have old skates to sell, because you got your 4th new pair under the Christmas Tree, or are looking for a starter set to try out for the 2009 Season of your local roller derby, try out SkateTrader. Let me know how it works! Labels: Derby Luv, New Year

Roller Derby in December
Yep, that's right. WFTDA 2008 Nationals are over, but don't be a stats nerd! There's still roller derby to be had! This weekend, on Dec 13, you can catch: Merry Rock N' Derby Saturday, December 13th, 10:00pm at Mulligans on the Blue with the Maui Rollergirls in warm, lovely, Hawaii. It's a fundraiser, bring a toy for the kids and try to win a date with a rollergirl. On another note, I just found out (too late, sorry Maui Rollergirls) that Maui was recruiting this past weekend. I have got to tell you that I type this Maui note with jealousy in my heart as I look out my window at the rain-drenched slush of a winter storm that wanted-to-be, and I say, to the goddess of roller derby, I wish derby was a paying sport and Maui needed a big blocker... LOL Anyway, they have tryouts on Jan 17. Good luck to the Maui Rollergirls fresh meat! Also on Dec 13, for those stuck stateside, you can check out MRD's annual HO HO Bout. From the description on facebook: On Saturday Dec. 13, members of the Quad Squad, Reservoir Dolls, Unholy Rollers, and Vaudeville Vixens will set aside their grudges and form two holiday-themed teams to compete in MRD's third annual Holiday Bout (or Ho Bout, as the locals call it).
For those that always confuse MRD with MRD ( Mad Rollin' Dolls and Maine Roller Derby), I'll start saying MRD - Madison and MRD - Maine. OK? Yeah, I'm the same about TCRG ( Terminal City Rollergirls in Vancouver and Tri-City Rollergirls in Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario) I know it's just the way the acronyms come out, but it's confusing! Maybe the name registry should include league names and abbreviations! Anyway, oh right, FREEZE RAY. (if you did not see Dr. Horrible's sing-a-long blog, you probably think I've lost my mind right now, right?) Well, I'll continue. Mad Rollin' Dolls' annual bout is on in Madison on Saturday. What else, what else... The Killamazoo Derby Darlins are having a holiday party on Dec 20. Facebook event says it's Dec 20 at the Back Alley Saloon in Kalamazoo, MI. I have to tell you. When Hammer City went down to play Kalamazoo, I wanted to go, just to say I've been to Kalamazoo! This is your chance, go check it out! And it's for a good cause...A portion of the proceeds will go to Warm Kids Project, Inc. to help provide Kalamazoo youth with hats, gloves, boots, and jackets in the winter months. There's more derby out there! Just search your city and other nearby cities with the words roller derby after them, and if it's there, you'll find the local league for sure. See if there's a roller derby event to check out while you take a break from all the sugar highs, hot cocoa, decorating, holiday cheer and holiday stress stuff. Me? You care? Well, I'm studying for a professional certification exam for my day job on Dec 19, to wrap up just in time to pick up the mother-in-law at the train station just in time to kick off Christmas week by celebrating my derby widow's birthday with chicken wings and a quiet, at home party, stressed out all to sh*t and trying to get off my fat a** for some heavy workouts to battle those Christmas sugar cookies that are asking to replace cigarettes in my available "best-friend"/crutch opening, and being smoke free (75 days tomorrow). I want to skate, but it's snowing. waaaaa. I'll be online a little less because of that stuff over the next two weeks, but never fear. If I find out anything at all good, I'll pass it on. Twitter me, or facebook me, and I'll be around! Oh, and I'll leave you with this. Fellow blogger Raven is diggin' this article on one of her favorite jammers: Sadistic Sadie http://www.fracturemag.com/derby/features/sadistic-sadie. And a little birdie told me that Montreal will be hosting Beast of the East II in April. So all you Eastern Canadian and a few of you east coasters, get ready... Who will take on 2008 Beast Champs, the Hamilton Harlots? Who will take home the crazy monster head on a platter? And will Nia get to go back to Montreal for the event and make it through the after party without losing anything or bleeding at any time? You heard it here first... hahaha maybe.... April 2009, the biggest thing north of the 49th. B there or B Square. I'll try to get you a last minute roller derby Christmas shopping list. I am running behind this year! L8r Sk8rs! Derby Luv to ya! Enjoy! Labels: Derby Luv, HCRG, Maine Roller Derby, MTLRD, Rollergirl.ca Derby Luv Stop Smoking Challenge, TCRG, terminal city rollergirls, wrapup

Nia, what's going on in derby right now?
Well, derby luvvers, I apologize. After the GMDD clinic, I worked for two days, and stared at my arm bruises from Bully Julie's Blocking Drills (Did you see San Diego Derby Dolls in this article?) , then I was off to my hometown in North Carolina for US Thanksgiving. Happy Thanksgiving to all my US rollergirls, and derby luvvers! I was evacuated from the local Wal-Mart (in Marion, NC) due to a bomb threat, and was flabbergasted of news about the Wal-Mart greeter trampled to death in NY, and the person shot at a Toys-R-US on Black Friday. I think from now on, I'm sticking to Canadian Boxing Day and Black Monday E-Commerce shopping. I hope you didn't finish all your holiday shopping yet. Remember Derby Luv merch, even though it's from my cafe press store, is pretty hot and turns out well. Need a photo? I watched a Heartland Havoc replay, Gotham Girls vs Windy City, on MAV TV on Thanksgiving night I think it was.. .or was it Friday? It was awesome to see a roller derby game on a big screen TV. But I wish the crowd had been bigger. I want to really push roller derby to the masses. I think everyone would love roller derby if we can get them to come out. More Marketing. That's what we need. What do you think? Comments are welcome! Oh! And what does Derby Luv want for Christmas? Ummmmm.... Blood and Thunder Training Camp bloggers (are you going? Can you take a laptop and send me emails or blog from San Diego?) and a way to fundraise for the plane ticket - or a Xmas gift of an MVP pass! ~ to go to Rollercon 2009 so I can blog all about derby in Las Vegas. And a roommate or a free place to sleep.... I can't do it alone! But hey, if you know you are going (2008 MVP prices in effect for advance tickets now til Jan 1,2009 for RollerCon 2009 passes!), want to write, and are willing, contact me and I'll hook you up to blog from Las Vegas and I'll stay home for one more year. But enough self-promotion - what's going on in Derby? Overseas, down under, games are going on - it's summer soon in Australia, right? - and here in Northeast North America, with championships over, nationals done, and holiday breaks on, the focus now is fund raising and RECRUITMENT! If you ever thought about becoming a roller girl, a ref, a roller guy, a volunteer.... look up your local roller derby league now. Maybe they are having a recruitment or fundraising event you can go to soon, or maybe you can get on a waiting list for winter boot camps, or find out where to skate for practice until try-outs. I know where I am going in 2009 (as fresh meat, I have no idea what team or when I'll be in another game) in London, ON with the Forest City Derby Girls, but I need to get my RSC (Rollersports Canada) insurance renewed soon, and there's a lot of talk about that on the Canadian Yahoo Groups if you're interested. I think I'll have to do read up more on that. If I find out good info, I'll get back to you. Instead of wishing for a respository of good information for Canadian roller derby, I'll try to become one over the coming months. If I know it, you'll know it, and if you don't know, ask me, and I'll try to find out.
Training usually kicks off after Christmas for the spring season start-up in the Northeast and Eastern Canada particularly (Maybe Raven can speak to the West coast) so don't eat too many XMas goodies, and keep that gym training going to get ready for derby training in '09! I wish the snow had not started here, I was prepared to really skate train after the GMDD clinic, and now I'm stuck at home and in the gym. It's sad.
What else is going on? OSDA Championships. I've got the press release and info for you, watch for that post tonight - I need to get that written up first. Just make a note on the calendar that it is this weekend, Dec 6, in Mt. Laurel NJ at the International Sports Center. And thanks to all of the girls at the GMDD clinic that checked out the Necklace I was wearing..... if you want one of those for Christmas for the derby girl in your life, hang in there and I'll tell you all about it soon.
I know this post was a little everywhere, but I wanted to let you know that even though I wasn't coherently into writing today, with a well thought-out article or cute link, that I am still with you and thinking roller derby.
Be patient with me, I'll get more info for you soon! Labels: Blackberry and PC WallPaper, blood and thunder, Derby Luv, GMDD, Rollercon 2009, San Diego Derby Dolls, training, Twitter

Blackberry Wallpaper and new Desktop Wallpaper from Derbyluv.com! Name that Rollergirl!
In honor of me becoming a victim of Blackberry addiction - Ahhh, I'm addicted to the CrackBerry! - my hubby took a little rollergirl he had drawn for me that I love, and made her into a wallpaper for my Blackberry. So, I'm sharing with my Derby Luvvers. If you don't have a Blackberry (Congrats, by the way), he also provided some PC Desktop Wallpaper so you won't be left out!
Just click Wallpaper in the main menu or here! Now, in addition to that, I need to name this little derby minx. I need a derby name that isn't taken, that suits her cute and violent tendencies, and is age appropriate. I think she's about 6. I am considering her as my next tattoo - that I may never be able to get without a sponsor...
So if you can comment or contact me with your suggestion, I'll pick in 30 days and the winner will receive a sample set of Elizabeth Ocean Paper Dolls, for the little rollergirl in you.
Ahhh, some derby stuff for the Canadian off-season.... for those that aren't in fresh meat training. Labels: Blackberry and PC WallPaper, Derby Luv

Derby Luv OctoberSkate 2008 and Turkey in Montreal
Derby Luv's first annual OctoberSkate was an impromptu event I dreamt up, because this Canadian Thanksgiving weekend my have been my last opportunity to skate on the beautiful, long, hilly, fun, smooth Formula One Track on Parc des Illes in Montreal. It may get complaints from F1 drivers, but for skating, it's fan-tastic endurance skating. And fun too! It was a little chilly, but by the first lap end, the jackets were off, the shins were warmed up and rolling was fast.
During the hour and a half event, there was dancing....
 There was wheelchair derby....
There was some time with a cross-country ski team that trains on these wicked skate contrapations that were out training on the track. I might be more apt to take up cross-country skiing if it means I can train on skates! But I must admit, underneath all the skating, and acting up on that track Sunday morning, I was quite sad on the last straight stretch on the last lap. If that is my last skate on that track, then it's the last time I will get that memory of asking Special K how to slow down after I did the crouch and fly on the downhill for the first time and realized I had no idea how to slow my descent.... Or how I bent over to spit out the cloud of gnats on the back straight along the water while skating with Georgia W Tush and fell and scarred up my left leg, to match my right one I had injured at my first practice ever. And that time I skated with El KaBoom and we tried to keep up with a rollerblader racing around the track as fast as we could, until we gave up on the downhill, and learned we should have kept after her, as gravity on my larger body would have helped me gain the speed on the downhill to catch her.... Thanksgiving is for being thankful for what you have, and I am. For my family, for my friends, for my skates and my life. Labels: Derby Luv, Octoberskate 08

Derby weekend in the making!
So from a fan perspective, this weekend is HUGE! First off, there's Derby in Dairyland, which is the place to be for WFTDA Eastern Regionals action. DNN is still preparing for the weekend event, but you can sign up to follow the scores if you aren't available to watch all the boutcasts, and can receive updates on your mobile. Check out DNN for more info, or twitter.com and search for WFTDA and Derbynewsnetwork. Wisconsin press is well aware of the Mad Rollin' Dolls hosted WFTDA event, with these two articles appearing today: The GuideDane101: An Interview with the Grand Raggidy All Stars But, if you aren't going to make it to Dairyland, and you're on the twitter updates on your cell and are free to roam around, and you're not travelling somewhere for Canadian turkey day, you can enjoy other derby activities this weekend. Did you know that not only is it Columbus Day in the US next Monday, it's Canadian Thanksgiving, so it's a long weekend. So, check out Hammer City (2nd place non-WFTDA class at Fall Brawl 2008) as they drive down to play The Chicago Outfit (5-2 season, winner of Fall Brawl non-WFTDA class 2008) this weekend. HCRG! HCRG! HCRG! I'll see if I can convince one of the girls to text me updates. - A rematch after Fall brawl - this is goona be a great game. I'll be driving to Montreal on Saturday, and plan a Derby Luv, Canadian Thanksgiving Sunday Morning Skate. (1st annual), that I am hooking up the event on facebook tonight. 9:30 Am - 10 AMish start time, Gilles-Villeneuve Formula One Track in Montreal, bring your own quads, coffee and water, and let's skate! If you're in the northeast US, you can see some Maine Roller Derby action this weekend. After the Pennsylvania opponents had to cancel last minute, (the danger of roller derby), the Calamity Janes and the Port Authorities, split into two teams, Team Wicked and Team Good for a mixed up roster bout on Saturday. Just because it's fall, and hockey arenas everywhere in Canada have laid down ice, this goes to show you, it ain't done yet! I even started working on the 2nd annual, Derby Luv US Thanksgiving with the Blue Ridge rollergirls today. We'll know more as we get closer, but the plane ticket is purchased, the vacation is booked from work, and I am ready.... Feeling the love
Thanks Uncle Leon, for this nod to Derby Luv in your Interderby interview recently.... http://interderby.wordpress.com/2008/09/18/inter-derby-interviews-the-famous-uncle-leon/And I'd have to say that your best parties choice of the Mad Rollin' Dolls MIGHT have a runner up in Montreal - but I'd have to party in Dairyland to test that theory - but I hear my alma mater roller derby league is getting the rep for being quite the party league. I'm serious, you should get passports and work out something with Georgia W Tush, cause I bet the party would be fabulous! I'd even take a trip back to Montreal to see that! Xanadu on DVD, and This weekend in Derby Luv
Well, let's move away froom serious competition for a moment, and take a look at some fun stuff! There is a review of "Xanadu" on DVD from the Washington Post, and just looking at the pictures jogs my foggy memory of seeing this when I was a kid, on TV - or was it at the drive-in with my sister? I learned to roller skate at the local skating rink in Forest City, NC when I was about 4 or 5 years old. The building was turned into a dance hall/bar in later years, and the rink moved down the road, but I have memories of being 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 going to the skating rink on weekend afternoons, and sometimes in the evenings, to my older sister's chagrin as I tagged along. I remember skating under the disco ball, with the laser lights all over the wood floor (I think it was wood then) and learning to skate faster, go backwards, slalom, spin and dance on rented quad skates that at that time, were in good repair and were the only kind you could get. I skated to "YMCA", "I wish they all could be Carolina girls" , "You dropped the bomb on me" , "Beat It" and all sorts of disco and early 80's tunes. I skated every weekend until I was about 12 when for Christmas, what I wanted was my own pair of speed skates. By then I had skated at skating rinks in every city we had moved to across NC and was back in Forest City. the new skating rink was larger, with smooth concrete floors, and older girls would fly around on a speed track during a section of the nightly skate... and I wanted to do that. So off I went on my first pair of speed skates, white with pink wheels. I got faster, but never had a friend that wanted to skate like me, and never thought to ask for help or a coach. So I learned by myself and loved it. Skating as fast as you can to Bon Jovi when you are 13 and "Shot through the Heart" is blaring is just awesome. All night skates 7 PM to 7 AM were a trip, and I grew up on those skates. Once I skated down a one block steep hill on the street, I fell at the bottom when I panicked when I heard a car coming over the hill to intercept me (no way I was stopping at that speed) and I bounced and slid across the road backwards on my rear. The car did hit me, but only the wheels of my skates and it spun me around as it flew by, never braking, and my friends shrieked in horror from the grass beside the road. I dunno what happend when I got a car and turned 16 and started running around all teenage crazy... but my skates got put away and lost. Now I have two pairs in a skate bag with all my roller derby gear, waiting for me to pick them back up and get back on wheels. For now, I am going to start concentrating on Derby Luv, and I'll be ready to train as a rookie fresh meat player in the fall to start over from scratch. So for this weekend? HCRG is hosting a charity event "Schoolyard Scramble". The entire league, names drawn out of a hat for instant team split up, and scrimmage! For info visit the website, or check your facebook and myspace for Hammer City Roller girls. I think this is a really fun idea, and I look forward to hearing if Jet Girl takes my advice and starts a game of Red Rover, Red Rover in the pack. What games/events are you going to? Hammer City and Roller Derby news
So I am all settled into Hammer City (Hamilton) Ontario. I finally bumped into Staplehead, Hammer City Rollergirls' League President yesterday, and I may get to finally strap my skates back on for the first time since straining a calf muscle in late March or so. (Sunday for a 4 hour practice) - Yay! Skates! But I'm nervous a bit. I know two months is a long time off-skate, maybe I will suck and make a bad first impression... or maybe I'll be fine and then may feel bad if I can't work out a schedule to make the weekday practices... either way, I may be down trodden. I'll keep you posted as I try to revive my roller derby career now that my relocation is done. In the meantime, I have not given up on roller derby at all, and I hope you haven't given up on Derby Luv. I have been perusing news, like this article that revisits "Hell On Wheels" at austin360.com and did you hear that The Death Row Dames in Hamilton won over Ottawa Roller Derby on May 24th? That's what I heard! And Saskatoon got it's first taste of roller derby when The Hell's Belles and Bridge City Bombshells played to a sold out crowd this past weekend. I've talked to Hammer City folks, and hear there is a game coming up with the Steel Town Tank Girls vs The London Thrashers next week (jun 7). (more details when I have them). In Toronto, the TORD is playing on the same date, The Death Track Dolls take on the Bay Street Bruisers. And there is "Skate Through This" a double header in Montreal on June 14th. Les Filles du Roi will be going up against Boston B-Party and La Racaille against the Charm City B-Team. Also on the 14th: Calgary's CRDA Hellion Rebellion Travel Team vs. Victoria's Eves of Destruction, in Victoria, BC. Lots of summer derby fun for everyone! Stay tuned, I'm back and ready to bring you some more roller derby news! Labels: bouts, Derby Luv, Hammer City, MTLRD, roller derby

Whip It! Update and a How To Paper mache
Ellen Page will star in Whip It! too! And it's noted she has to undergo some serious physical training for her role in this, and a horror movie. She'll play a roller derby queen it says. I say find some real rollergirls, please! I love Ellen page and Drew Barrymore and all that, but rollergirls are awesome! Read MoreOh, and what has coat hangers, chicken wire and today's news? A 5 foot paper mache roller skate! MTLRDL's Creative Committee is madly trying to finish off some truck decorations for Montreal's St. Patricks Day parade event in a couple weeks, and we ended up with a bigger production than we thought. Do you have any idea how to make 13 in- 14 in diameter wheels that will support a 5 foot by 5 foot paper mache skate? Hmmm we're on it an you will see the results when it's done.... PS - Derby Luv is going to remain as bland as I have been lately, because my digital camera broke a couple months ago. (The on/off button no longer turns it on or off). I am totally at a loss for pictures and video now. IF you can shop at the derby luv skate shop, are willing to donate to Derby Luv, or have an old digital camera you are getting rid of to get me through until I can buy another, please let me know. And a Derby Luv New Year to you!
Christmas was a blast. Santa skipped my house and forgot to drop off my Riedell Wickeds, but I did get a great iPOD stereo/docking station from my husband, so it's all good. I caught a Christmas cold that hasn't gone away and have a bit of a sinus infection kicking around I think, but I'll be alright. We're off derby practices for the holidays so I can rest it off. In other news, I'm busily working on some projects for MTLRD, so Derby Luv has been quiet. Sorry about that! I'm only one rollergirl, sadly, and I haven't figured out how to blog while I'm skating, or how to be in more than one place at a time yet. In good news, along with Georgia and I, we have Caitlin, a rookie rollergirl and Chet Wisconsin, ref in the UK, signing on to be bloggers. We'll stay tuned to see what they can add to our lovely little site here. Talk to me, people, send your news, your announcements, games and parties, in a text and image format I can copy paste and I can bet I'll get some of them online within a day or two! Later, skaters! Derby Luv and Happy New Year to you! Catch ya in 08! Labels: Derby Luv

But I will accept donations towards them LOL And when you're all done there, roll on over to viaderby.com. It's worth the visit. I hope to make it on the wall of pain with my old leg injury image... you know the one... In other news, the MTLRD All-Stars won over Hudson Valley on Oct 28, Hamilton played She-Devils in OSDA game last week, and Sara of Rat City Rollergirls, and Fast Girl Skates will be in Montreal tomorrow for practice. I hope I can get a chance around my leaguemates to talk to her! Wish me luck! Labels: Derby Luv, merchandise

Happy Thanksgiving to my Canadian Rollergirls!
It's Canadian Thanksgiving, so Happy Thanksgiving to all the Canadian Rollergirls, their derby widows and widowers, rollergirls and ref in training kiddies, and entire families! As a transplanted American, I have to say that I celebrate both holidays, and for both, I like to find things to be thankful for. Today I am thankful that I know Georgia W Tush. She has been a roller derby inspiration to me, and so much help to Derby Luv. I'm thankful that I have a wonderful derby widow by my side. That I skated all summer and think I can do better this season for MTLRD. I'm thankful derby is alive and kicking in Canada, and look forward to year 2 with hopes that I'll make some new derby friends, some new derby enemies, and that I can get in the penalty chair at least once, but only if my team has already lost and I don't hurt our score. ;) Oh and don't forget, Derby Luv wants to be at RollerCon 2008. We'd like to have a Canadian Roller derby All-Stars team to go play... so if you're a Canadian Rollergirl and want to be a member, get in touch with me or Georgia and we'll work on it for next year! DerbyLuv was at RollerCon 2007!
I hear there were people that knew of DerbyLuv at RollerCon. Well, Derby Luv was there, in the form of our co-blogger, Georgia W Tush, as well as worn by my teammate, Trash N Smash, as shown here. Thanks to Trash for wearing the DL swag, and look, the shirts are pretty freakin awesome. Maybe if we can sell enough shirts Derby Luv will be at RollerCon 2008 in full force. * hint hint*

Derby Luv updated Links Page and Status
It came to my attention recently that during an update sometime in the past, my contact form got busted and wasn't working. Thanks to Iva Issues from the Blitz Dames for letting us know! It's been fixed, so if you were trying to contact us, please resend your information. We're still looking for more bloggers to represent their teams and leagues with news, events, updates. I'm also open to interview and story ideas, and for bloggers for RollerCon 2007. In other news, I took some time last night to finally start building our links page. I've added links to all the teams/leagues I've recently posted news for, as well as a few resource sites for skate maintenance, skate purchases, and derby information. Enjoy! If you are roller derby related, or interested in sponsoring a roller derby league in your area, let me know and we can trade links. In personal news, I am excited to be working with MTLRD's newest Recruitment Manager, Trash N Smash for the soon re-opening of MTLRD league recruitment. Roller Derby is kicking back off for me and I am so happy about it. We get ready for that, go see the last bout of Hammer City on August 25th, celebrate my birthday while I am there, and then in September, it's back to training. Good thing I've been skating a lot this summer. I'm ready! (But I never did learn to jump that high, and haven't gotten my webstoppers to improve my toe run starts.) Hey, my birthday is coming up, maybe I can get an early present and nail that down pre-training season. There's still hope! Later, derby luvvers.. I'm off to see the first NASCAR Busch Series race in Montreal - at least for a beer and some pictures of guys with mullets for my friend Liz On Ya - and to see a race where I usually skate. A DerbyLuv roundup on Tuesday? Yes!
Hey derby luvvers... hey, I know it's not that, Thursday/Friday/Saturday -what am I gonna do this weekend? - where are the derby bouts? - kind of day, but I've been kinda slow updating lately with that kind of thing. My apologies. My dayjob is busy, I've been skating and exercising a lot, and this week I've been kinda down with a wisdom tooth flare up causing me headaches and just owies.... no excuses, I've still been paying attention! First off, I'll tell you that I have completely changed my diet the last month. I eat meat only twice a week now, 3 times only if it's tuna during the week because I don't eat fish at all except that. I ave to give a shout out to SparkPeople.com I joined that site a long time ago. I have to say following the diet plan hasn't really helped me lose weight, but I'm naturally a big girl but the tools are fantastic for tracking nutrition and exercise, calories burned, goal setting, and I administer a Sparkteam called Roller Dery Queens on there that is doing great. A lot of rollergirls, big and small are working on getting and staying fit. Come on and join, if you like! I've also given up cable TV. Surprisingly easier to do than I thought it would be, I get less marketing, less celebrity crap in my face, and get to choose what I watch and when by moving to DVD. Love it! Ok, on to ROLLER DERBY news: Thursday night you can party with the Toronto Rollergirls
The Switchblade Sisters @ Neu+ral Dj's Miss Hell & Misty Rock n' Roll take over Thursday nights Time and Place Thursday, July 26, 2007 at 10:00pm Location: Neutral 349 College St. (entrance on Augusta) Toronto, ON And speaking of the Toronto Rollergirls, Misty also let me know via facebook that the TO girls are featured in this new music video from The Used. I've had trouble (even though I've seen them before) picking them out of the video footage and finding skates, but see if you can find them! It's on YouTube.July 28th - That's Saturday - you can check out the Terminal City Rollergirls in Vancouver. The Red Rollers vs the Black-Eyed Betties Saturday, July 28, 2007 6:00pm - 9:00pm Minarou Arena (98 B line takes you right there) in Richmond, BC Ok, that's enough for now. I have some stuff cooking, but you know as always that if you play roller derby, love roller derby, ref or volunteer of your local roller derby league, and there's an event to promote or a story you want to see me do, a Rollergirl or guy to interview or a product you want me to try and review, just send me the info at info at derbyluv.com! Q&A With Men's Roller Derby Player Bobbie Carnage
Updates have been scarce this last week (sorry about that, I've been spending much of my free time roller skating like a mad woman on the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve), but that is all being rectified as of this very moment as I've posted the latest roller derby Q&A interview with men's roller derby player, roller guy Bobbie Carnage of the Hell City Hooligans. Of course, I couldn't very well list Bobbie on the roller girls page, so a new page was created for future interviews with rollerguys. Labels: Derby Luv, interview, roller guy

Derby Luv Merchandise
So just to insure that our Derby Luv store merchandise was worthy to provide for our posters and readers and such, I ordered a T shirt, a ceramic coaster for my desk and a button. I was happy with the results, the merchandise is beautiful and the logo looks awesome on black. I'll be wearing my Derby Luv t shirt to The White Stripes concert on Friday night at the Bell Centre in Montreal. I got two tickets and their latest CD, Icky Thump by winning them this morning. Thanks, Global Montreal This Morning Live! In other news, I went for a lovely skate last night around the Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve race track with my teammate LizOnYa and a couple fresh meat girls that want to join MTLRD in the fall. I have to say that giving pointers to others (like teaching anything) helps to teach me and helps me remember the same tips too. I am skating so much better these days, lower, more maneuverable, and have stamina to boot. Would I like to train to be a jammer? Absolutely! Can I be a good jammer? I don't know... if I get my speed up I might be better as a jammer than a blocker because I'm more about getting out of and away from crowds than looking behind me and staying in them in real life.... we shall see next year. Derbyluv Calendar question
So as you can see in the last post that listed out the plethora of roller derby events for the next 6 weeks, there are a lot of them. I just added two events, (marked with ***) and will keep doing so until I make a new calendar post. If you have thoughts, theories, or suggestions on how you'd prefer to see the calendar of events, I'm all ears! In the meantime, I am sad that I am not playing anymore games this season. No more Roller Derby for me (except training training and more training) until I guess... April or May 2008. Another birthday will go by, another Christmas..what a sad state of affairs.... I am happy to say that the Derby Luv store is open for business and the new-look designs are looking pretty sharp, if I say so myself. Aside from showing your love for roller derby and of our site here, it'll also put some coins in the tip jar to help keep this site running, keep my gear in top shape, and hopefully maybe even get my butt to Las Vegas for Rollercon next year. Derby Luv on the road
So I am taking off tomorrow around midday to travel from Montreal, Quebec 8 hours over the 401 TransCanada Highway to Hamilton, Ontario. Also known as the Steel Town, and related by my Canadian friends that are US knowledgeable as the Pittsburgh of Canada. The Double header ROLL IN RAGE game of MTLRD and Hammer City Roller Girls is sure to well worth the purchase price, with two games to watch. I already posted about it, but if you're around, we'll be at the Market Street Arena in Dundas ON located at 35 Market St. S. Doors open at 3 PM, game at 4 PM. Personally thrilled that my husband has decided to come with, we'll be picking up a rental car and hitting the road together. I'll miss out on the antics of my derby girls in the vans convoying together, but it'll be a roller derby mini-vacation for me. Either way, a good time. What does this have to do with Derby Luv? Well, I hope to meet some new and interesting rollergirls from Hamilton, get lots of pictures and video to chronicle my first away game, and of course, unless the hotel I am at has internet service, I'll be offline until Monday. The 3rd of 5 ACRD Rollergirl Q & As, Athena Monster, is going live tonight, and then on Monday, we'll reconvene with the final two. I hope you are enjoying these sassy and entertaining Dallas derby queens. I'm on the hunt for new story ideas, new rollergirls who want to show off and talk about themselves and roller derby, roller derby music, products, and anything else to make this site more interesting. Send any ideas to info at derbyluv.com. Labels: Derby Luv, rollergirls, Travel

Apocolypse Pow Q&A Interview is up and other stuff
So Apocolypse Pow is the second in the line of 5 of the ACRD (Assassination City Roller Derby) girls that all volunteered to be Derby Luv Rollergirls. Another derby queen on the books, and things are shaping up around here! In other news, I have spent a few hours mapping my way from Montreal to Hamilton Ontario for the Roll In Rage bout with me and the MTLRD against the Hammer City Roller Girls on Saturday, June 9th. Les Contrabanditas (my team) go up against the Steel Town Tank Girls and the Les Filles du Roi fight it out with the Hamilton Harlots. By all reports Hamilton is tough to beat and a great derby league, so we'll see what comes of it. For more info, visit mtlrollerderby.com.Tickets are on sale at the MTLRD website for our Championship Bout in Montreal on June 16th. Thanks to everyone that's been interested in Derby Luv lately, and for all the suggestions, comments and luv sent derby luv's way. Remember, if you want to read about it, I'll write about it! I'm back and better than ever!
Ok, *shew!*, what a week or two it's been! You will notice the new layouts and colors on the site. the pages within are slowing being migrated to the new design. I hate to sound like a 1996 webpage, but "please pardon the mess while we are under construction" In big news, there are new rollergirls for you to get to know. Sour Cherry was interviewed weeks ago, but did you see her yet? Man, she will put fear into the heart of any rollergirl, and make men cry... love it! And the first of five of the ACRD ( Assassination City Roller Derby) players, Trigger Mortis, is live. FINALLY! I hope they all forgive my tardiness. Here's another girl after my derby luv. Next time I travel to Dallas, I think I may be able to go skate with Trigger and friends... I am SO psyched! And she doesn't know yet, but I've hung out at the DoubleWide in Dallas before. I have photos to prove it - very funny place. Check her out!
In Nia Capps news, I am all booked in my hotel for my first ever away game with MTL Roller Derby. A big double header match in Hamilton Ontario on Saturday will put me and my "'ditas" up against the Steel Town Tank Girls, and our league sisters and rivals, Les Filles du Roi against the Hamilton Harlots. Doors open at 3 PM I think - I am confirming where I'll be and I'll let you know! OH, and a week later, we're playing our championship bout of this mini-first season for MTL Roller Derby, us ditas against the Les Filles, once again. Tickets will be on sale tomorrow from the website. June 30th, you can see me at the MTL Roller Derby all-stars game as a Cheerleader. That's right - you may remember me from when I was 12 in the burgundy and white uniform from Oakland Elementary's Baseball Cheerleading squad if you were in Asheville, NC in about 1986-87 or so. I was the curvy one that you threw pennies at one Saturday. I threw those back hard, eh? But I kept your quarters mwa ha ha ha Should be fun.. I'll be crushed when my little drunk squad mates all fall off the pyramid I'll be at the bottom of, but at least I'll have beer hahaha Ok... later! Labels: Derby Luv, MTLRD, rollergirls, Travel

Derby Luv hasn't been updated, darn it Nia where the jesus h are you?
We're back online soon! Just so everyone knows, I didn't mean to lie last week, I do have the interviews of ACRD girls and photos of Sour Cherry and all that... but my day job, a migraine, and sheer "not enough hours in the day" syndrome kicked into all high gear mess this week... But in other news, thanks to some help from Boneflake Studios, a new and more functional and readable derbyluv.com site will go live tomorrow night I think... or at least soon - and the interviews will be up along with a wrap up of all the upcoming derby events sent my way lately. Derby luv is also going to add a new and improved links page, as well as possible product reviews, and I am into posting news, events, scores, recruitment notices, interviews, pictorials... videos from you tube, music... anything... so let me know what you want to see! Nia Capps in training...
So I got my new Riedell 125 boots last week and started breaking them in. After a little trepidation about the stoppers, and the no padding, new fit... I got used to them and had a great training week. After getting my bike stolen from outside a Metro station (subway station in the USA) two weeks ago I bought a new one last week. Went for a long ride to test it out. And on Thursday I headed out over Montreal's Jacques-Cartier Bridge to the Gilles-villeneuve track (Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve) and went around the 2.709 mile track 3 times, then biked an hour home through St-Lambert to get back to Longueuil from the island. (That's 8.127 miles, but who's counting? ;) ) Man was I tired on Friday. Other than a spill after doing a slow-motion over correction after losing my rhythm when I was spitting out little damn gnats that were in clouds everywhere in the dusk... it was a blast. I even got to stay in front of my team captain and jammer Georgia W Tush most of the time with the new China reds bearings and Blue Demons wheels that came with my skates from Rollergirl. Asthma? But I play roller derby!
Sorry for anyone emailing me Sunday night and yesterday. I was off to the doctor for what I thought was going to lead to antibiotics for bronchitis coming from a cold I couldn' t shake... But what I got was a diagnosis of severe allergies with the last of the cold I had (no infection, just upper respiratory inflammation) and voila. "Madame, you're wheezing...did you know you have asthma? Are you taking your inhalers?" To which I replied, "I don't have asthma, I just smoke!" hahaha So those weren't panick attacks when I lost my breath at practice and didn't feel nervous, or when I went swimming last week and couldn't keep my breath? I wasn't losing my mind? Thank goodness! But oh no... asthma? I never had asthma... this is new! Well, I guess the past 15 years of smoking, being the co-owner of cats, and living in a city with lots of automobile fumes and smog warnings has done it's work. As I try to quit smoking, I only hope that having this inhaler before I play means higher endurance and better performance... and then at least it won't be so bad. :) In other news, my bicycle was stolen from outside a subway station while I was at derby practice on Sunday, so I'm hunting up a new one that I can just make look like a piece of junk so I don' t have to go through that again - BUMMER. I'll keep you posted. If you see the guy with my Nakamura blue and silver hybrid bike, $300, 3 years old looking like new - tell him to expect a Nia Capps large skate helmet to have to be surgically removed... if you get my meaning. Upcoming Derby Luv interviews - Roller Derby Weekly Wrap up
Just wanted to apologize for my lightness on updates this week. My day job has been INSANE this week in preparation for a trip to Las Vegas next week. Hey, if you're a Sin City Rollergirl and know if I can skate anywhere on the strip or downtown - or if there's a practice I won't need insurance for (I have Canadian Medicare and health insurance though) and you can give me a lift to get there since I don't have a clue where it is, let me know! I'll bring you a MTL Roller Derby shirt :) A new rollergirl interview will be up tonight, Recruitment manager for MTL Roller Derby, Suzie Quadtro was my first volunteer and I've had her interview waiting for a few days now. I think I'll ask her one more question seeing as how MTLRD has closed their recruiting for the time being with a 3rd team forming out of the fresh meat that joined. After that, it's Sour Cherry, founder and current member of the Oil City Derby Girls. And what about non-rollergirls? Well I have a surprise for you - coming real soon - do you know a song called, "Roller Derby Saved My Soul"? Well, of course you do. Uncle Leon and the Alibis are kicking off a derby-event two-week shebang and I'm getting some details on that for you too. Stay tuned my derby-luvvers.. Labels: Derby Luv, news

So I told you all last week that I heard about this guy that had sold off his possessions to go on the road following roller derby, said I had found a new roller derby hero, and I did it. Chris "Hurt Reynolds" Seale, known for his blog Have Derby Will Travel, agreed to let me interview him. Sorry, Hurt, you didn' t send me a photo so I ripped you off your site - I can change it if you send me a new one.... *raise of an eyebrow to you* Anyhoo, he's entertaining and it's an inspirational story, so if you love roller derby, like I know you do if you're here, check it out! GCRG vs Big Easy Rollergirls March 24
Tulsa World: "The Green Country Roller Girls are rolling out to New Orleans this weekend for one of its first official league bouts, said Lora Gambino, aka Malicious Mabel, spokeswoman for the roller derby organization. "After two interleague losses, the Green Country Roller Girls are more determined than ever to capture their first victory," Gambino said. " Tulsa World did a write up on the GCRG's upcoming bout with the Big Easy Rollergirls, and I found out about Hurt Reynolds of Have Derby Will Travel . Seems Hurt has changed his life to follow American Roller derby, travels, and blogs it. A new hero for me. I think I'll try to contact him to interview him. Wish me luck!

So Bill Charbonneau, webcomic artist of Small Market Sports, has generously donated some artwork in the top corner of the screen here, and he's turned that into some kickass Derby Luv - Show me some Luv wallpaper that I adore. It now adorns my desktop on both my computers (work and home). I'm sharin'! Anytime I make some more, or someone donates some, I'll post it there so you can share! hahaha I'm tired and I'm rhymin.. bells somewhere must be a chimin'.... Hey, what do you think, should there be a comic strip about roller derby called Derby Luv? A host of rollergirls, some comedy (of course) some drama, some derby? Let me know, if you want it, I bet I can get it out there! (yeah, I'm a nerd - I can't wait to get my hands on the sold out (and I am going to pre-order) Joss Whedon, Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season 8 Number 1) Ok, off to get to some blogging on some real news.... Too busy to blog on my own
I got alot of derby team news and info but I'm short on time right now. I'm still willing, if you're seeing this and want to help out from your team and surrounding teams, to have some co-bloggers with me... just email me! I corrected a post from the beginning, about Vexy clothing. Miss Georgia W Tush, so glammed up that I mistook her for one of the pro models, is included in that photo shoot - can you pick her out without checking her photos online or on myspace? Well I apologized and it was funny to us that I missed her! Labels: Derby Luv

Derby Luv launching full Throttle Soon - Needs bloggers
Hi there, This is Nia Capps of the MTL Roller Derby and I fell in love with Roller Derby when I started it this past summer. Our first season is kicking off soon, but I am not making derby luv just for my league and my Les Contrabanditas team, but for the entire roller derby world. So if you're an old school derby fanatic or member, like a Bay City Bomber, or the captain, webmaster, or representative of your Canadian, American or International own hometown roller derby team or league, new or old, flat or banked, indoor or outdoor, struggling or making money... I'm offering you the chance to join me as a blogger on derbyluv.com. You'll get a blogger account and be able to post here like I'm doing, with interesting, informational, or fun derby stuff you find out on the web, or events and listings you hear about on derby groups, for your own and neighboring teams, and sponsors, and just help make a site that will be a place for every rollergirl and roller derby fan to come hang out and get all the good stuff. If you don't have time for that, with real life and derby life hardcore time responsibilities, you can fell free to contact me with your own derby news for your own team and I promise to blog it here, and I'll be pushing this site hardcore starting next week. Also, I want to interview a new derbygirl a la the Nia Capps one here on the site each week, and unless I can find you, I won't know how to reach you, so send me your okay to interview you and I'll schedule you and send you the questions via email :) One question will always be changed or added from the last girl interviewed. Later - Nia Labels: Derby Luv
