Hell on wheels - Montreal Gazette reports on MTL Roller Derby's first interleague bout in Montreal on May 5th.

As the bout began, all hell broke loose. It was mayhem, a melee of
rollergirls flying, crashing and tumbling.

Yeah, I can attest to that - my arms and shoulders are still fading the bruises from my opponents' boney shoulders and the helmet head butt I took to the face at the end of the last period left me with a fat abd bruised lip for a few days. I was surprised that I made it through my first bout with no retarded falls for no reason, and I know what I need to work on to be a better player, but when I took out an opposing blocker with a roll as seen here, then caught up to the pack in time to try to block the Les Filles jammer on the far side of the track, I was pleased. And a sold out crowd was an outstanding feat of our league, with only 3 weeks of promotion.
