Asthma? But I play roller derby!
Sorry for anyone emailing me Sunday night and yesterday. I was off to the doctor for what I thought was going to lead to antibiotics for bronchitis coming from a cold I couldn' t shake...
But what I got was a diagnosis of severe allergies with the last of the cold I had (no infection, just upper respiratory inflammation) and voila. "Madame, you're wheezing...did you know you have asthma? Are you taking your inhalers?" To which I replied, "I don't have asthma, I just smoke!" hahaha
So those weren't panick attacks when I lost my breath at practice and didn't feel nervous, or when I went swimming last week and couldn't keep my breath? I wasn't losing my mind? Thank goodness! But oh no... asthma? I never had asthma... this is new!
Well, I guess the past 15 years of smoking, being the co-owner of cats, and living in a city with lots of automobile fumes and smog warnings has done it's work. As I try to quit smoking, I only hope that having this inhaler before I play means higher endurance and better performance... and then at least it won't be so bad. :)
In other news, my bicycle was stolen from outside a subway station while I was at derby practice on Sunday, so I'm hunting up a new one that I can just make look like a piece of junk so I don' t have to go through that again - BUMMER. I'll keep you posted. If you see the guy with my Nakamura blue and silver hybrid bike, $300, 3 years old looking like new - tell him to expect a Nia Capps large skate helmet to have to be surgically removed... if you get my meaning.
